As a regular, everyday wine drinker, I am always looking for quality, yet affordable offerings. Spier chardonnay is exactly - enjoyable, yet at a price I can drink on a regular basis.
Clovelly, Estcourt, Kroonstad, Alluvial soil in ancient riverbed, and Glenrosa.
Straw coloured. Subtle nuanced citrus fruited nose with oak undertow. Golden Delicious apples, citrus and ripe nectarines. The creaminess of a vanilla bean crème brulée. Delicious juice-making balance of acidity fruit and wood.
From February, grapes were hand harvested from selected vineyard blocks and received at cellar, de-stemmed, slightly crushed and pressed. Juice of the individual block selections (some separate and some blended) are temperature -control fermented, in stainless steel tanks, with selected yeast strains. Only the best tanks were selected for the final preparation of the blend. Maturation occurred on the fine lees for two months prior preparation for bottling. 5% barrel fermented in new French oak barrels.
WHEN TO DRINK
Enjoy with SASSI Friendly fish, pan-fried with lemon butter and parsley, Mussels in cider, Snoek belly flaps, flour dipped and butter-fried.
